When Quinn Hedberg graduates from DeForest High School later this year…he won't have to worry about money for college.
Quinn took home the grand prize--a $6,000 scholarship--at Madison Area Technical College's third annual Win a Career contest. A fan of alternative energy, Quinn plans to use the scholarship to pursue a career in chemical engineering at Madison College.
More than 130 people applied for this year's Win a Career contest. Students submitted an essay describing their career goals. From that group 46 semi-finalists were chosen to put together a short video describing how winning a career at Madison College would change their lives. That number was then reduced to five lucky finalists. The contest was sponsored by the UW Credit Union.
The four runners-up were Marissa Bertram from Burlington, Kortney Koch of Dane, Robert Martinez of Madison, and Bob Pinter of Deerfield. They'll each receive $1,000 scholarships at Madison College thanks to U.S. Bank and the Madison College Foundation.
